Meals on Wheels

CLASP currently over sees three Meals on Wheels, one operating from Gleann Hall,  one from Keash Hall and one from Ballinafad , delivering a hot meal to our clients as well as a chat with our drivers.

The project services the rural hinterland of the East Sligo to older people that are located in isolated rural areas. The service was developed in consultation with the HSE.

In order to access Meals on Wheels service you or your family member must be referred by a Public Health Nurse, who will the contact our office with details.

We are always looking at ways to improve the service and have recently had our new vans retro fitted to incorporate innovative systems to keep the meals warm and fresh.

At present we are working with Sligo IT to develop a system of recycling our meal containers.

CLASP has worked hard building up the Meals on Wheels service and works closely with the local public health nurses ensuring those most eligible receive a meal. The service is also integrated into our rural transport service and many of our new clients on the Meals on Wheels service also access the transport available in the area as well.

We have introduced the option of paying for your or your family members meals on wheels on line on a weekly basis. Please note that you and/or your family member must be referred by a Public Health Nurse in order to avail of this service.
