About Us
CLASP (Community of Lough Arrow Social Project) Sligo was founded in 1997 having received funding under the Community Development Programme C.D.P. supported by the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltach Affairs.
The project catchment area covers the East Sligo Area and includes the villages of Ballintogher, Riverstown, Geevagh, Ballinafad, Keash and Castlebalwin.
The project focuses on older people living alone. and comprises of Rural Transport, Quality of Life Programme and Community Development.
Rural Transport is the cornerstone of the project and aims to provide essential services to older people living in the area enabling them to remain living in their home and community.
The Rural Transport service provides transport to and from medical appointments as well as a weekly shopping and pension run.
Quality of Life Programme includes Meals on Wheels preparation and delivery, Active Age Clubs, where older people meet up in various community centres for a hot meal, chat a bit of fun and some activities.
Community Development covers at present The Men’s Shed, Community Shed and Community Garden .
